Reviews

Every time i get down with my photography I take out Damien’s videos and get totally inspired. He is ” The Master Of Light ” , Damien could make a fab photo out of a rusty bucket. Probably the best out there. His wife Julie is also a fab photographer ( great for the bride shots ). Amazing amazing amazing is all I can say.

Just finished Illumination 2, once again you amaze me with how easy you make it look, the photos produced in that video are incredible, no other word for it. Your videos are really helping me understand light more and the thought process behind composing each shot. 10/10

This is very special indeed. They have all been great but this has serious production quality too. No holds knowledge sharing really is priceless for people wanting to improve and you are in a league of your own in this regard. Thank you very much indeed.

Highly recommended! Forget the 2 hour online videos with instructors waffling on for 1:45 hours on how amazing the area and how many things they have accomplished, leaving only 15 minutes for any kind of photography! This is 136 minutes of nonstop photographic knowledge; easy techniques you have never thought of using the cheapest of equipment for amazing urban portrait results. And the name Lovegrove needs of course no introduction.

Vangelis

Your work is Netflix for my soul! Another splendid production!

Quicktime support for PC users

You may have read about Apple ceasing support of Quicktime software for Windows users. PC users have also been encouraged to delete the Quicktime application from their computers for fear of potential security risks. We would also highly recommend PC users delete Quicktime as soon as possible.

Whilst our videos may state they are Quicktime files, they are actually H.264 encoded MPEG-4 files that should play perfectly fine within many other media players and pose zero security threat in themselves. VLC is a popular free media player that plays .mov files. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

Damien Lovegrove

Damien Lovegrove is a world renowned portrait photographer and Fujifilm UK ambassador. He has been a TV cameraman, a commercial photographer, a wedding and portrait photographer and now he is a writer, columnist, teacher, motivator and artist.

He went to the BBC at the age of 19 and trained for three years to be a cameraman, going on to train as a Lighting Director, and leaving the BBC in 1998 to become a full time photographer.

He now specialises in making women look fabulous.

“I’m inspired by beauty and as I have matured as a photographer I’ve learned to see beauty in just about everyone and everywhere. It’s not what I look at that matters, it is what I see.”

“Being a good portrait photographer requires key traits like having integrity, fun, respectfulness and a personable character. It wasn’t until I was in my early 30s that I began to gain that all important confidence needed to hone these skills, and I shot my first portrait in 1996 at the age of 32.”

“Some of the leading photographers I met early in my career had confidence and craft skills in bucket loads, but somehow they lost the desire or focus to really push themselves to greatness, and they fell by the wayside. It takes continual practice and improvement to get the most from photography and there are many obstacles along the way to overcome.”

“The secret of making consistently good photographs is to stay inspired and be passionate about photography. Inspiration fuels the learning of new techniques, and passion generates the motivation needed to continually practice.”
